writing promt: when was your passion born

in

My first books were The Bobbsey Twins, Nancy Drew, and Cherry Ames-nurse. Then while still in grade school there was: Diary of a Young girl-Anna Frank and I also read alot of Pearl S Buck.
I consumed Peyton Place and Gone with the Wind and Valley of the Dolls.

Write about your first book memory or your favorite book. my first book memory is 1st grade - Dick & Jane (and Spot)- remember learning to read, see Dick run, see Jane run after Dick(wait that doesn't sound right now does it? maybe she was running after Spot.

Favorite book, that's a tough one. I don't think I have "One".

I really really liked: Prince of Tides, The Sorrows of Young Werther, Vonnegut's Cat Cradle, Kate Vaiden, anything by Anais Nin,.....

Not enof time to finish this one now - late for work.
Another one from the dusty old draft file - please feel free to leave yours or a link to yours here.

Writing from Ted's computer where I can still get on your blog. Anyway, we share so many favorites--which is, of course, no coincidence.

I loved the stories bout twins of different countries---not the Bobbseys: the Japanese Twins, the Swiss Twins etc. because not only was there a story, but you learned things about other cultures. My favourites though were a set my parents bought me, which I still have and still read, called The Bookshelf for Boys and Girls, copyright 1948 from the University Society. There was a whole world in there---reproductions of famous paintings, mythology of different lands, history, music---it was, and is, wonderful. Each volume has drawings in the margins by my brothers and sisters as they got old enough to be interested. I read to my grnadchildren from the series, and they love it too.

My first book memory, and the first book I fell in love with, is Miss Suzy. The little gray squirrel who lived in the "tip, tip, top of a tall oak tree."

Ah, memories. :)

I loved to read "Three Days on a River in a Red Canoe." I don't know if it's still in print. Also, I've got memories of reading the babysitter's club books over and over and over.

Tom Swift. Or to be more precise, Tom Swift Jr. I've since seen some of the original Tom Swift series from the early part of the 20th Century... not at all PC. Mark Twain: Before I was really old enough to appreciate him fully I still enjoyed him.

Oh my......I absolutely adore reading Pearl S. Buck! "The Good Earth", is my ALL time favorite. Second most favorite reads have always been the "Little Women" series of books.
