Ok, let's see if we can wrap this Mexican debacle up.
After dragging myself up the stairs, I lay on the bed with my leg up on 2 pillows with ice. When I got sick of watching Mexican TV, I dragged myself into the shower, got myself dressed and back down those stairs Iwent.
We got a table out on the patio and my husband asked me what i wanted to eat from the buffet. I said,"Nothing, I really don't feel like eating." or drinking for that matter - especially not that watered down wine from the silver water pitchers. When he got back and sat down, the tears started to roll down my cheeks.
Yep, the ole alcohol aftermath. The Happy Hour Haze had worn off and we were smack dab in the Depression Daze. Feeling sorry for myself, feeling like i'd ruined the vacation and just wanting to go home. We were discussing whether to see the Mexican Dr. down the road at the other resort, when I jokingly said,"maybe i should shout out-is there a doctor in the house? "To which my husband retorted, "would you really want one who was staying here? " I laughed and said well i guess not, but maybe we could go up the street to the 5 star resort (ours was a 3).

So i had a little roast beef and mashed potatoes and watered down wine and hobbled down to the bar for a nitecap- a Spanish Coffee, then called it a night. No disco dancing for this girl tonite.

Ok .. now I know there will be a part 4 because you can't keep us hanging!

Sky- the diagnosis is something that i can't pronounce or remember. Synchiotic or synchiosis of the knee. Trauma to the knee -mucho swelling - hence stiffness and limp. going for an MRI if not better this wk.
Amias - You never know with me - i'm not one to finish things. but i need to wrap up this Poor knee(me) story for sure.

maybe it is synovitis? lots of fluid in the knee cap area? any cortisone directly into the joint area yet? i am glad you are having an MRI. hopefully with a conclusive diagnosis you can get the right treatment and will feel better soon.

I'm so sorry that anything in your life is a debacle.

Take a deep breath and Make The Best of It. aaaarrrggghhh!!! I know, that's just so Pollyanna!

Sky- are you a nurse? yes you got it right. but i got the MRI results: Torn(or worse) meniscus and possible tear or rupture of the ACL. Sounds like i play for the NFL!

Sky- i hit the publish too soon. I forgot to say the treament is surgery for the meniscus if i choose and he doesn't want to touch the ACL since that is much more involved (4 mo. recovery) surgery. I am taking up my ostrich position.

not a nurse, a medical social worker supervisor whose staff specialized in various medical areas.

ok, get that head out of the sand, girl! you don't want to keep fluid on the knee or take any chances on making things worse for yourself. did he try to drain it when you were there?

i say get a game plan after doing some research. perhaps you might want to find out who the best ortho knee doc is in your area and get a 2nd opinion. we had a group in atlanta who handled many of the atlanta braves, and one of those docs did the knees of a couple of my friends who had similar injuries. pretty quick recovery following out-patient surgery. (in that practice each doc has a body area s/he specializes in...foot, knee, shoulder, hand, ankle, etc. this is typical in ortho surgery.)

good luck.

Sky- he definitely did not try to drain it- Thank G-d! or you definitely would've heard about it. Thanks for the info and help!
