Timewaster

in

A phrase started years ago, by a good friend - we were the best little timewasters in the world (I would drop by for coffee in the morning, then before you knew it we'd be having lunch, next we'd decide to go downtown to this little coffee shop where they had the best chocolate cake in the world). The problem being is that i won that title as she has gone on to become a published writer.
And now along comes the internet - a bright and shiny new big timewaster or creative outlet depending on how you look at it.
I see people giving it up all the time - recognizing their addiction? need to do something real? "If it weren't for the Internet, I wouldn't have any friends at all". not true but as you get older how do you meet people (not on bar stools anymore) and the friends you do have, you never actually see cause everyone is too damn busy . At best you talk to them on the phone - another one of my personal favorite little timewasters cause it makes doing those mundane, boring chores more bearable. so where was i going with this? i dunno, just wastin s'more time, i suppose.

Right. Is it wasted time or creative time? Reading the blogs takes time and posting takes time. The days go by too fast now that I'm over 50 :/

Creative time, i like to think - we're just too hard on ourselves. You know we love our blogs. Better than TV.

If your good friend is who I think it is (Patry?) she was spending a lot of time on the internet at the same time that she was writing her book. So, I agree with you that it's creative time. There is such a richness of people out there that I would have missed out on without the internet. Heck, how would I ever laugh on Friday's without your joke Fridays?

you are so right. we evolve with the times. i've read something about a new way of speed dating. all you have to do is log onto the net and if i remember it correctly, you'll be hooked up through video link. present yourself. i think it's quick. isn't it? we will be spared with all the preparation and all that.

hmmm..true, this is the easiest way to find friends. :)

A-law: very perceptive. I agree with and am amazed on how we happen to find each other.
Ipanema/friend - i found you didn't i, or did u find me? that's another post in itself; how did we all happen upon one another.
