Do you do this?

in

Do you sometimes post, just to get that previous post out of there - the glaring first thing someone sees when they discover you. Do you get that obligated (oh no i have homework to do) feeling about posting - like when you are hypercritical about everything you write - like this is just drivel? Well i'm here to say it's our drivel and knock that internal critic to the moon, tell him to get the hell out of your way; this space is yours and yours only. Yea right. I guess we do need the irritating little fellow or g-d knows what would wind up here. See there he snuck in again, wiley guy isn't he? What are your idiosyncrasies(as far as writing)? Sitting here trying to decide between the post or delete button - who wins?

I probably hit the send button sometimes when I should hit the delete button. Too often, it is just drivel, but as you say, it's my drivel.

Oh, yes! Take the link I posted last night. I thought it was hilarious, but when I woke up this morning I had a sudden rush of "OMG! what will they think of me?? Should I delete it before too many see it?"

I kept it, though, 'cause it still makes me chuckle every time I think about it.

Oh yes, I sometimes post something new rather quickly just to push some stupid, drively thing down. And I have a lot of drivel! But I've also finally begun to allow myself to not feel like I have to post all the time. You're right -- doing it because you think you have to makes it feel like homework. And who likes homework?

I'm answering yes to your first two questions, and I think three is a yes too. As for the fourth, I think the longer I blog, the more I waffle! I look back at the early stuff, and the posts weren't so long and were often one consistent story, whereas now...But I have stopped forcing myself to post each day as I was really starting to resent it. Though even with fewer posts, I seem to hit the delete button more and more ;o)

I loved all the comments; glad to see I'm not alone in this. :D

I am definitely susceptible to the "is it good enough" and "what will they think of me" traps. But for me, that's why my blog is a PRACTICE!

What MB said. And it is SO HARD to do sometimes, to post something and leave it there. I have woken up once or twice in the middle of the night to take a post down. I would like to be able to leave everything up, warts and all, but I am not at that stage yet.

yeah....but I try to fight it off.
Maybe the goal should be quality over quantity....if what I put up is quality...only others can say.
