I guess I should get a motorcycle....

in

because I didn't get my "new job". I was hanging my hopes on that job being the jumpstart that i needed. Something new, something exciting.

Yeah, too bad my fear of falling would prevent me from ever getting a motorcycle, that and I don't have good hair for a motorcycle, for the windswept look.
But in reality I probably wouldn't have been able to take the job anyway, as it most certainly would've involved a substantial pay cut. I've been down this slippery slope before.

As I told the interview guy... "i'm trying to reinvent myself". And one of these days I'm gonna get it just right.

Perhaps it's not for you. There is always something for all of us in this world. later perhaps.

I get the appeal of the motorcycle. Last year, I took motorcycle riding lessons, the first time I had been on a motorcycle in 40 years. Luckily, I just missed on passing the test for a license, and I realized then that the last thing I need is to wind up in the hospital or the morgue because of an unfortunate encounter with a car. But the romance of the open road with the wind tearing at my skin isn't something that will go away. And thinking of taking a lower paying job is kind of like thinking of riding a motorcycle. It's okay to dream about but too dangerous for people our age.

That's why I'm getting a major haircut for my 30th. I wanted a motorcycle, but it was too cold to think about being on a moving vehicle without heat in the middle of January.

The fact that you are trying to re-invent yourself means that you will.

i love the idea of reinvention. i agree with lee...you can do it. a new career, a new hairdo and maybe a new color - hey, this sounds fun, huh? do you ever move the furniture around in your house? my mom used to that once or twice year, but i never have. i seem to get stuck as i get older...was much more spontaneous and bold when i was younger.

what about just a Vespa? I'm all about the compromise.

ipanema - no problem - squat/stay as long as you like - hey you'll drive my stats up. :D
Sky - nope to furniture moving and changing my hair color. but maybe something else will appear on the horizon.
liquid - i'll be right over. :D
Lorna- Vespa?

rdl,

As what some of the other comments said, maybe that job was not the right one for you. Things happen for a reason. I went through the same experience myself when I switched careers. Stay hopeful and determined and you'll eventually find THE job for you.

I like your blog and I hope you won't mind if I link to it from my site. Congratulations too on the award! Thanks and take care. :)
